ERCOT congestion rights value falls in latest auction

Congestion revenue rights acquired in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas auction for January totaled $14.6 million, about 7% less than the December total, results posted Tuesday show.

The total January capacity acquired in the auction was 143,480 MW, about 2.2% more than the December auction’s total.

Of the January value, about $7.6 million was for 48,799 MW in obligation CRRs, and about $7 million was for 94,681 MW in option CRRs. The dollar value of December CRRs was $15.7 million. …(more)

The US Environmental Protection Agency says it agrees with a request by coal-fired utilities that a federal court should avoid disrupting the markets for emissions allowances and electricity when it decides on whether to stay a new rule to reduce interstate air pollution from the power sector.
