The frequency of major power outages has risen in recent years, both in Texas and across the country, according to data collected by the U.S. Department of Energy. Why is that? The jury is still out, but a recent report by the non-profit Climate Central put it squarely on the shoulders of worsening storm patterns and aged infrastructure. But according to the power sector, the portrait is more nuanced and the spikes are at least in part caused by the expansion of the power grid in places like Texas.
