… II. BACKGROUND Iluminar is authorized by the Commission to provide retail electric service under REP Certificate No. 10179. On information and belief, on March 8, 2021, the Electric Reliability Council ofTexas, Inc. (ERCOT) provided Iluminar with a notice of material breach for Iluminar’s failures to provide required collateral and timely pay settlement invoices. Between March 30,2021 and April 29, 2021, all Iluminar customers were transferred to JP Energy Resources LLC dba Ampra Energy under REP Certificate No. 10278 to prevent those customers from being involuntarily transferred to a provider of last resort (POLR) service. On May 3,2021, ERCOT revoked all rights of Iluminar as a market participant and terminated its Standard Form Market Participant Agreement (SFA) as a result of Iluminars failures to provide required collateral and pay outstanding settlement invoices. Specifically, as of May 3, 2021, ERCOT asserted that Huminar has failed to timely pay Settlement Invoices totaling $42,440,388.14. …

ERCOT forecasts record-breaking power demand this summer

Texas’ electricity grid manager is planning to visit several power plants to evaluate their summer weatherization plans for the first time after forecasting record-breaking power demand this summer. 

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas on Wednesday released its final forecast for electricity demand this summer, predicting record power demand of 77,144 megawatts. The current summer peak demand was set on August 12, 2019, when demand hit 74,820 megawatts. 

ERCOT said it anticipates there will be enough power generation to meet this record demand, forecasting total power generation capacity of 86,862 megawatts. However, ERCOT didn’t rule out the possibility for “tight grid conditions” as …
